It's a Teaser

My new website and blog are almost ready to share with you! Yay! My old website has gone away and there is just a little teaser there. I feel so lucky to have found Jo Klima of The Darling Tree to design my new site. The process has been so fun and quite honestly, so pleasurable for me. Jo is uber talented and has such a beautiful aesthetic that I felt totally comfortable handing the project over to her. It is a scary thing to hand over control of your look when your an artist and she has done a brilliant job.

The switch over is going to be bittersweet for me because my blog will be leaving Typepad for Wordpress. I have been such a fan of Typepad for the last five years and will be sad to say goodbye but, can't wait to share my new blog design with everyone.

These last couple of months have been jam packed with work for me, Surtex is right around the corner and I am feeling the pressure for sure and my freelance business has taken off, I feel so blessed. Everyday, I practice gratitude and look back on my life and the decisions I made to get me to this point, scary decisions that took me out of my comfort zone and made me grow as an artist and a person. I am grateful that I took those scary leaps... so grateful. What scary decisions stand between you and your dreams? What small sweet steps can you take to get you closer to living a life you love? It really is all about the small sweet steps because it gets the energy moving and the more you move forward the more the energy builds and start propelling you forward. That is how I have been living my life and it seems to be working!!!!

I hope to get back to blogging more, I have so much to share and feel an emptiness not being here. I have a couple more weeks of craziness to get through, I can't wait to be able to breathe again.

Have you ever read The Daily OM? I love it. My friend Katie sent me this article yesterday and I thought I would share it with you.

It has taken me a very long time to get where I am. Where am I? I feel like I am on the cusp of my dreams. I am a believer that everything happens when it is supposed to but, I can't help wondering where I would be if I allowed myself to be brave sooner? For the longest time I wouldn't allow myself to step outside of my comfort zone and take the leap of faith needed to propel my life. I just kept moving along hoping and dreaming and longing and wanting until I physically couldn't do it anymore. It is amazing how things work out. I feel like the universe kept giving me opportuniies and I kept passing them by for safety. Until finally, I had reached a point where I just couldn't function anymore, I had to change, I had to have faith. It was one of the scariest and most rewarding decisions I have ever made. The decision to leave my full-time job to better care for my health and my dreams.I decided to take on some freelance work even though it wasn't enough money, I would figure out how to make it work. Since making that decision, the energy I had been holding back for so long has exploded out and gently placed me in the arms of my dreams.

Without a Net
Living Life with Trust

When we continually live our life with a safety net it creates a barrier to our freedom.

As we create the life of our dreams, we often reach a crossroads where the choices seem to involve the risk of facing the unknown versus the safety and comfort of all that we have come to trust. We may feel like a tightrope walker, carefully teetering along the narrow path to our goals, sometimes feeling that we are doing so without a net. Knowing we have some backup may help us work up the courage to take those first steps, until we are secure in knowing that we have the skills to work without one. But when we live our lives from a place of balance and trust in the universe, we may not see our source of support, but we can know that it is there.

If we refuse to act only if we can see the safety net, we may be allowing the net to become a trap as it creates a barrier between us and the freedom to pursue our goals. Change is inherent in life, so even what we have learned to trust can surprise us at any moment. Remove fear from the equation and then, without even wondering what is going on below, we can devote our full attention to the dream that awaits us.

We attract support into our lives when we are willing to make those first tentative steps, trusting that the universe will provide exactly what we need. In that process we can decide that whatever comes from our actions is only for our highest and best experience of growth. It may come in the form of a soft landing, an unexpected rescue or an eye-opening experience gleaned only from the process of falling. So rather than allowing our lives to be dictated by fear of the unknown, or trying to avoid falling, we can appreciate that sometimes we experience life fully when we are willing to trust and fall. And in doing so, we may just find that we have the wings to fly.


When we believe that there is a reason for everything, we are stepping out with the safety net of the universe, and we know we will make the best from whatever comes our way.

Ummmmmm... and some new art.

I have been having trouble blogging lately and I'm not sure why. I have been blogging for almost 6 years now and have never felt this way. I'm at a loss. So, I am just going to sit here and write. I am pretty happy these days, my health seems to be improving with some good days mixed in with the bad ones... yay! My creative life is at an all time high. I will be showing at Surtex in May and I am freaking out over it. I have so much to do! Maybe that is why I am having trouble writing? I feel like I am at a turning point in my life, I am letting go of old energies that have bound me for too long and am trying to let new lighter energy filter in. It is actually a very uncomfortable place to be. So many feelings, old and new. Uncomfortable but good, I'm really excited about life these days. I think I need to brainstorm some new ideas for the blog, I know I need to update it and I really need to revamp my website. So many things, so little time.

In an effort to redeem my sad little post, here is some new art I have been working on. I am excited about this new direction and can't wait to play with it more. Have a great weekend my friends.

Wishes, Dreams, Life and Living in the Present. My Hopes for the New Year.

I love the week between Christmas and New Year's Day. It is the perfect time to reflect on the year that is leaving you and make plans and dream of new dreams for the coming year and beyond.

This past year was filled with highs and lows, challenges and dreams come true. I left my full-time job last November and started my freelance business, my non-compete contract expired and I started my licensing business!!! I spent three months getting treated with IV antibiotics for my 12 year battle with Lyme disease, I'm still not sure if it worked and it was by far one of the hardest things I have ever done.

Since then, I have been trying to get my life back in order and it has been challenging but, it has also been filled with so many amazing things as far as my career is concerned! I have great news to share with you about licensing my art. I have to wait until I have the details all worked out. I am also talking with some licensing agents about representing me and my brand. After a decade of wishing, I finally made the leap and will be showing my work at Surtex this year. I still can't believe I am finally doing it! Oh gosh, what else?

I sent this package with my pattern design off to my top pick in the quilting fabric industry.

The creative director called me last week with some amazing news!!!! I will share all of the details with you as soon as I have a signed contract.

I am absolutely amazed over this last year. There has been so much to be grateful for, even the challenges because of the lessons and insights I have gained from them. So grateful!

I live a very simple life. I am married with two dogs, no kids because of my health challenges. We live in a little house in the country, not too far away from the city. I have amazing friends and family that I love so much. I honestly, never dreamed that amazing things like fabric deals, my own dinnerware collection and getting my art out to the world could ever happen to me. This past year as opened my eyes to the reality that great things can happen, I am worthy! Which leads me to this coming year.

This next year is going to be about nurturing my spirit and my physical body. I need to release the feelings of being less than and embrace who I am and love myself more. This may sound very self-serving but, it is a necessary step on the road of recovery. There are so many people out there that don't value themselves, that don't believe they can make a difference. Can you imagine what the world would be like if we all believed in our divinity? I am always telling other people how amazing and powerful they are, if only I could believe that for myself. Well, I am starting to see it, I am starting to feel it.

It is my dream for this coming year to be fully present with myself. To nurture and heal my wounded soul and to practice self-love in all it's forms. In doing so, I will open up the world of possibility in my own life and be able to share those lessons with others through encouragment, nurturing and inspiration. Small sweet steps to healing and helping others to heal as well. That sounds like a pretty good goal to me.

I would also like to thank all of my friends out there in the art/design/blogging world. It is through your belief in yourselves, your inspiring art and thoughtful words that have inspired me to keep pushing myself. I don't know where I would be without your beautiful lights shining and illuminating the path before me. Thanks, dear friends.

Hello, Friend. It's been awhile.

It is the crazy season and time for an update! Life has been very full these last couple of weeks. Work has been busy, I have a few licensing deals in the works and I am hoping to sign with a licensing agent soon. I still keep pinching myself and hope this good energy continues to move forward. My health seems to be steadily improving, I am able to get a lot more accomplished these days and I am incredibly grateful for that. I also sent out a package with my pattern designs out to some fabric companies for licensing, keeping my fingers crossed there!I have dreamt of having my designs on fabric for so long now, what an amazing gift that would be.

Next big thing for me to start preparing for is Surtex, I am a little nervous about the amount of work that needs to get done in the next couple of months but, am looking forward to the challenge.

I am also happy to say that I finished all of my Christmas shopping in two days! YES! So, it is now my plan to enjoy my holiday. It's so weird to post about having all of these positive opportunities. For the longest time I have been ill and struggling in so many ways... it feels so strange to read this post and realize that things are going really well. I am so grateful!

Loving Kelly Rae Roberts

I read this post today by Kelly Rae Roberts that I love. The post was written to congratulate Do What You Love's Beth Nicholls on her one year business anniversary. In the post Kelly talks about that moment in time when you sense that change is coming.

ever have that feeling that you are just going to bust at the seems with happiness, anticipation, and inspiration? like you are on the edge of something great? like you are about to make a grand discovery. and it just might be inside of you, in your heart, in your hands, in your vision? i am feeling like that right now and i am going to pay attention to it this time."

Has this ever happened to you? It presents itself in different ways, sometimes it's just a sense that something is about to give birth or it can also be a feeling of angst or unrest. It is the energy changing and making room for what's next. When you start to get these feelings it means that things are about to manifest. I have had this happen to me several times over the years. I remember when I worked full-time at Lenox as their Senior Concept Designer. It was a great job, and amazing opportunity. It was a job that people would love to have! But, I got the sense that it was just a stepping stone, I wasn't meant to stay there. I remember talking to my husband about the fact that I needed to start searching for new opportunities, that I needed to take the next step and he thought I was crazy for wanting to leave such a great job. I had the feeling that I needed to start looking for something else and not long after making that decision the next opportunity presented itself and I was ready for it because I paid attention to that gentle nudging, the feelings of unrest in my chest... I am so glad I listened. This same feeling came knocking two years after that and again I listened, this time it led me to where I am now, working from home, blissfully happy because I was given the gift of freedom with my life. Something I will forever be grateful for. I am starting to get that feeling again, something is coming, I need to prepare, be open, stay quiet and listen. I wonder what it is? It's a little different this time, it's more about me physically, I think. I keep getting visions of me taking better care of myself, that I need to prepare for what's next. The flashes are quick but they are getting stronger, I feel like they are nudging me to become more empowered and take charge of my life. I think that is the only way I will be able to succeed with my new business and the life I want.

Celebrating my Freedom

Freedom is an amazing thing, you take it for granted until it is taken away from you and then you see it's true power. As of midnight tonight, I am a free woman. I have been waiting out a contract that restricted my creative life for the last three years and it is over... wow. I don't want to get into the specifics but am glad this chapter of my life has passed and I can release the negative energy that has been within me and focus on some amazing opportunities that are coming towards me. I can't wait to follow my dreams that have been on hold for so long. I have big plans for this coming year that I can't wait to share with you. But, for now, I have a lot of work to do! Number one on my list is to send out my pattern designs to some fabric companies and see if I can make a huge dream of mine come true. Fabric!!! oh how badly I want my designs on fabric. At midnight tonight, I will be doing the happy dance just like Snoopy.

New Logo....Yes, I Changed it Again!

Yes, I changed my logo for hopefully, the final time. 2012 is going to be a big year for my business, I am going to be showing at Surtex in May and will start transitioning from a freelance designer to a licensed artist! The transition won't be overnight, but that is my dream. Logo's are so important as part of your brand, I wanted to make sure I was happy with mine and I wasn't, so I decided to modify it. Once I start promoting my brand it will be harder to change, now was really the time to do it. I hope you like it. I think it is sweet and feels more personal than the last one. There are so many things to think about for this coming year, my head feels like it is going to explode! It's all good though!

The only decision I am having trouble with on the new logo is, with or without brackets?

It has been too long.

Hello, my friends! It has been far too long. I am finished my treatments and sadly, I am not feeling any better yet, maybe a bit worse. But, enough is enough. I need to put this illness in it's place and start living my life again. I am tired of talking and thinking about it and am ready to move on. I will continue to look for new ways to beat this Lyme disease but, need to redirect my energy to more positive and fun things. I have a big year coming up and I need to start getting ready for it! I have decided to show at Surtex this year and really have my work cut out for me. I have a lot of planning and creating to do and can't wait to get started! I will be sharing this journey with you here. I have plans of kicking off my big year in November ( I am waiting out a contract) when that is over, the sky is the limit.... well, let's not say that. There is no limit! The Universe is an abundant place, it is boundless!

I haven't started painting yet, I am just getting back into my freelance work so, I dug through my files to share something not so new with you. Well, I guess it is new since no one has seen it yet. I hope you're having a great week. Hugs!
