Another attempt at doll making has had mixed results. I am having trouble baking the polymer clay, if the temperature gets too hot it burns the clay quite easily. I burned this one but didn't want to give up on her so I painted her white. I am not sure how I feel about the results... I guess that is why I have been putting off working on her. Plus, I am not sure who she wants to be.

She looks so cold......maybe she needs to be wrapped in layers of white....so she can absorb the light!

I was thinking she should have white hair!!!!

she could be a winter fairy, or snow princess.
or you could paint her with more of a fleshy color, or an ethnic colored skin, that might be easier, like an indian skin tone maybe?
what are you baking them in? toaster oven? regular oven? why is the temp so hard to control?

or maybe if you want to get crazy, paint her some off the wall color and make her into a flower fairy or something like that?

I think I am going to stick with the white and see how she turns out. Could be very cool. I bake her in a cheap toaster oven that I bought just for that. I am using a temp gauge but the oven is so in consistent, I think I need a better one. I am going to try paper clay next. It is non-toxic and air dries.

I never did like the way that clay smells when you bake it, ugh!
